Can’t decide what to do with your summer day? Simply view Target’s #SummerUp decision maker on the company’s Vine account for a fun idea. Equal parts clever and addictive, the Vine is incredibly fast-paced and jam-packed with fun summer activity ideas. When the viewer taps their finger on their smartphone screen, the video pauses, landing on something to do.

The number of options Target’s team was able to fit into the video is impressive, creating an animation like quality that’s simple and easy to understand. The #SummerUp options range from hop-scotch, to chalk your sidewalk, mini road trip and more. The video has more than 240 “likes” on Vine and Target is cross-promoting the Vine on its Twitter account, resulting in more than 70 re-tweets and 85 favorites.

In addition to its usefulness, the fun video showcases just how much creative potential there is on Vine. In a time where social media teams are debating about what to stream on Vine versus Instagram, Vine’s nimble capabilities of maximizing the milliseconds in a video truly stands out. The ability to start and stop quickly is a bit slower with Instagram’s video capabilities, indicating that this type of video wouldn’t work as well on the platform. Instead, focus your Instagram video efforts for when you want to stream a frame for at least a second and stretch the story out a little longer.

Oh, and if you’re having a hard time deciding what to do on a nice summer day, this writer recommends a good old fashioned #SummerUp water duel!
